The Galaxy's Greatest Gameshow

You receive a mysterious letter in the mail. In glossy, sparkly lettering, it invites you to appear on “THE GALAXY’S GREATEST GAMESHOW” and advertises that you could win more money than you could possibly dream of. All you have to do is sign the waiver that releases the enigmatic “Funan Games LLC” from liability for injury, dismemberment, bankruptcy and/or death.  

The details are shockingly scant, the waiver is unspeakably long, and you’ve never even heard of this gameshow. Maybe the glitzy logo impressed you, maybe you’re desperate for money, or maybe you’ve just always wanted to be a winner. The reason doesn’t matter: you recognize this as a chance of a lifetime and sign your name on the dotted line.

Sometime later, you wake up in a strange room full of flashing lights, big band music, and mysterious doors.  

 The crowd goes wild.

In this tabletop roleplaying game, players (“Contestants”) compete and collaborate in gameshow challenges to earn “Points.” Earn enough points and contestants win the jackpot at the end of the gameshow campaign (“Season”). Lose enough points to hit 0 and they’re sent home with nothing.

As with many TTRPGs, there is a GM (Gameshow Moderator) who prepares the environment, story, NPCs, games, etc. The GM first describes these and then allows players to make moves, use lifelines, ask questions, roleplay, etc. Some actions players choose to take (such as climbing a wall, singing a song, or lying) may succeed or fail. Success or failure is determined by a mixture of real-life ability and six-sided dice rolls.

The PDFs (both printable and digital) include rules, character sheets, and ideas for overarching narrative and individual game sessions.

Future plans for this TTRPG include individual game modules, standalone printable character sheets, and better art. The core game may also be edited for balance based on feedback.
